This short story is a work of fiction. It was inspired by a true story that a friend shared with me. The names, and places have been changed to protect the innocent. (I stole that line form the introduction of the old 1951 TV series "Dragnet")

"It was one of those days at Pleasantville Jr. High." John Dozer thought to himself as the bell rang signifying that it was time to change classes again. He was glad to be leaving math class. Nothing seemed to put him to sleep faster than pre-algebra. Next stop - World History with Miss Chronicle. As usual, the hallway was crowded and loud. Vice-Principal...

I can honestly say that In my lifetime I have never known of a time when the public declaration of my Christian faith was of the absolute imperative it is today. Nor have I known a time when the need to pray was more crucial and of paramount importance than it is right now.

I have heard quite a few folks over the years refer to me as a "perpetual optimist." While I choose to consider that description as complimentary, I am also acutely aware of the fact that some mean it derogatorily - insinuating that I view things through my own imaginary Poly Anna type "rose-colored glasses" blissfully oblivious to reality. So that's when I ask myself, "Is it worth it?" For me and my own sense of well being, the answer is...

Be Inspired! By the Word of God!

"For the word of God [is] quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and [is] a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart."
[Hebrews 4:12 KJV]
